Check microphone permission on your Mac and the learning site’s individual permission in your browser. Also select the input device and check that it picks up your voice before recording again.
Who should do this: the person using the Mac for learning. These steps apply to macOS versions with 「システム設定」 (System Settings). Check the appropriate section for Safari or Chrome.
Check microphone permission on the Mac
- From the Apple menu, open 「システム設定」 (System Settings) → 「プライバシーとセキュリティ」 (Privacy and security) → 「マイク」 (Microphone).
- If the browser you use for learning is in the list, turn on microphone access for it.
- If you are asked to quit or restart the browser, save your other work, then follow the instructions.
The list shows apps that have requested microphone access. Even if Safari is not listed, check Safari’s site-specific settings below. If the settings are managed, contact the person responsible for managing the Mac.
If you study in Safari
- Open the PRONTEST learning screen in Safari.
- From the menu bar, open 「Safari」 → 「設定」 (Settings) → 「Webサイト」 (Websites), then select 「マイク」 (Microphone) on the left.
- Find the row for the learning site and set microphone access to 「許可」 (Allow). If you choose 「確認」 (Ask), allow access when prompted during recording.
You do not need to change 「これ以外のWebサイトでのデフォルト設定」 (Default setting for other websites) to allow all sites. Check the learning site’s own row.
If you study in Chrome
- Open Chrome’s 「設定」 (Settings) → 「プライバシーとセキュリティ」 (Privacy and security) → 「サイトの設定」 (Site settings) → 「マイク」 (Microphone).
- Select the microphone to use and check that microphone access is not blocked for the learning site. If it is blocked, allow access for that site.
Check microphone input
- In 「システム設定」 (System Settings) → 「サウンド」 (Sound) → 「入力」 (Input), select the microphone you want to use.
- Speak and check whether the input level responds. If it is low, adjust the input volume a little at a time.
- Reload the learning page and record again, following the on-screen instructions.
If the Mac’s input level does not respond, check the microphone connection and mute setting. If it responds on the Mac but you cannot proceed with learning, tell support the browser name, the state of the input waveform, and the error text.
