The screen stops progressing during recording on an iPhone

First check whether you opened the app in Safari or from a Home Screen icon. Resolve any pending microphone permission request, then try recording while keeping the learning screen visible.

Who should follow these steps: learners using an iPhone. These instructions cover Safari and web apps added to the Home Screen from Safari. For apps installed from the App Store, see the dedicated section below.

Check pending permissions and recording status

  1. If the screen has a red recording button, press it once and check whether a microphone permission prompt appears. Allow it if the request is for the PRONTEST learning site.
  1. If recording does not start, check the site’s settings using Allow microphone access in Safari on an iPhone.
  1. Once recording starts, keep Safari or the web app in the foreground and read without switching to another app. If a call starts, try again after the call ends.

If the screen still does not respond

Before closing the screen, note the learning material and question, the status where it stopped, and any error text. You may need to repeat unfinished recordings.

  1. If you are using Safari, reload the learning page. If you are using a Home Screen web app, close it in the App Switcher and reopen it.
  1. Check whether an ordinary web page opens in another Safari tab. If it does not load, test the connection using another available Wi-Fi network or similar connection. Watch your data usage if you use mobile data.
  1. Restart the iPhone normally, then try the same question again.

On a model with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom edge and pause midway to open the App Switcher. On a model with a Home button, press the Home button twice. Swipe up on the relevant app screen to close it.

For an app installed from the App Store

Safari site settings are separate from the settings for an App Store app. Go to 「設定」 (Settings) → 「プライバシーとセキュリティ」 (Privacy & Security) → 「マイク」 (Microphone), check permission for the app, then close and reopen it. If the issue persists, also tell support the app name and version.

When contacting support

Provide your iPhone model, iOS version, whether you use Safari, a web app, or the App Store version, the learning material and question, the time of the issue, and the error text. Hide email addresses, names, and similar details in any screenshot you attach.
